Full day Itinerary

This day trip to Akagera will start from your collection point (at your residence) within Kigali. You will be picked up for the 106 km journey eastwards to reach the Akagera National park in Kayonza district.
 

Akagera national park shares borders with Tanzania to the east currently managed by African parks, an institution which has done a great job with the conservation of the park. Despite past conflicts between people and the park, African parks has taken initiative to solve this by fencing off part of the park and also the introduction of Akagera community tours has encouraged more visitors to visit these local communities and benefit accordingly. Akagera national park is home to several mammal species you can see on this day trip including Lions, Elephants, Giraffes, Hippos, Kobs, Zebras, Bushbucks, Waterbucks and most recently Black Rhinos that have been introduced from Czech Republic. There are also numerous bird species in the several habitats which include woodland, swamps, lakes and Savannah to see on this tour.
