Marketing for Small Agribusinesses Course

INTRODUCTION

Farmers have not focused on marketing what they produce. Marketing of agricultural produce is as important to better performance in agriculture as farming itself.

Farmers in traditional agriculture are not well connected to produce and input markets. Farmers are mostly not organized in self-help groups or cooperatives hence having a low bargaining power during the marketing of their produce. In the rural setup; Agroprocessing industries are not developed, rural infrastructure is weak, rural financial services are poor, means of transportation are inappropriate, institutional arrangements are weak, standardization, and quality control services are inadequate, and agricultural support policy is lacking.

This course will help in bringing up the linkage between crop and livestock marketing and opening up opportunities in the rural setup to SME development in agribusiness for improved livelihoods and rural development.
