Introduction

As the global economy emerges from the biggest crisis of our lifetimes, the divergent recovery that is taking hold is deeply worrisome. Countries with access to vaccines and continued fiscal support are well on their path to recovery, and those without are at risk of falling behind. In fact, many developing and low-income countries are still struggling, heavily affected by the pandemic and public finances stretched to the breaking point.

This training course that focus on disaster risk reduction as well as sustainable development concepts is meant for you. This training is designed to enhance capacities of practitioners in the layout and implementation of post-disaster economic recovery programs/interventions.

Course Objectives

By the end of this IRES course the participants will be able to:

  • Appreciate on the need for humanitarian interventions which are sensitive to development goals
  • Learn about various models of economic recovery;
  • Comfortably design and conduct a Post-Disaster Impact Assessment;
  • Outline the different livelihoods interventions that can address assessment outcomes;
  • Understand the tools and mechanisms for resource mobilization to help recovery programming;
  • Monitoring and evaluation of post-disaster economic recovery and sustainable livelihood restoration programmers.

METHODOLOGY

The instructor led trainings are delivered using a blended learning approach and comprise of presentations, guided sessions of practical exercise, web-based tutorials and group work. Our facilitators are seasoned industry experts with years of experience, working as professional and trainers in these fields.

All facilitation and course materials will be offered in English. The participants should be reasonably proficient in English.

ACCREDITATION

Upon successful completion of this training, participants will be issued with an Indepth Research Institute (IRES) certificate certified by the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA).

TRAINING VENUE

The training will be held at IRES Training Centre. The course fee covers the course tuition, training materials, two break refreshments and lunch.

All participants will additionally cater for their, travel expenses, visa application, insurance, and other personal expenses.
