INTRODUCTION
The livestock sector has a great need for highly educated farm successors, advisors and managers who have an affinity with the agricultural sector. There has been rapid global expansion of production and consumption of animal products which is expected to continue to grow. While traditional livestock systems contribute to the livelihoods of 70% of the world's rural poor, increasingly the emerging large-scale operations with sophisticated technology and international trade cater for the rapidly growing markets for meat, milk and eggs. This course is ideal for participants who are seeking a career in the industries that support domestic animals but also allows them to specialize in Dairy, Beef Cattle, Swine, Sheep, and Companion Animals. Upon completion of this course participants will have a vast knowledge basis of not only animal production (behavior, nutrition, reproduction, genetics, physiology, health), but also will have looked into the business of animal production.
