Course Objectives

At the end of this IRES training course, participants will:

  • Familiarize participants with the Ox Metrics 8 software: The course aims to introduce participants to the features, interface, and functionalities of Ox Metrics 8, ensuring they are comfortable using the software for econometric modeling tasks.
  • Develop a conceptual understanding of econometric modeling: Participants will gain a solid foundation in the key concepts and principles of econometric modeling. They will learn about the theoretical underpinnings of various econometric techniques and how they can be applied to real-world economic data.
  • Learn data preparation and exploration techniques: The course will teach participants how to effectively prepare and clean economic data for analysis using Ox Metrics 8. They will also learn data exploration techniques to gain insights and identify patterns in the data.
  • Build skills in regression analysis: Participants will acquire the skills to estimate and interpret regression models using Ox Metrics 8. They will learn about different types of regression models, model specification, and model evaluation techniques.
  • Understand time series analysis: The course will cover time series econometrics, including concepts such as stationary processes, autoregressive models, moving average models, and forecasting. Participants will learn how to analyze and model time series data using Ox Metrics 8.
  • Develop hypothesis testing and model evaluation abilities: Participants will learn how to test hypotheses, assess model assumptions, and evaluate the adequacy of econometric models. They will gain knowledge of various statistical tests and diagnostic procedures.
  • Explore advanced topics in econometric modeling: The course will provide an opportunity for participants to delve into advanced topics such as panel data analysis, instrumental variables, simultaneous equation models, and limited dependent variable models.
