INTRODUCTION

This class includes a thorough review of the Photoshop interface including how to use tools and panels, and how to customize and save workspaces.

Core skills you will gain in this course include an understanding of strategies for retouching photographs, how to determine resolution and image size, how to straighten and crop images, and adjust color and tone.

You will learn to work with many of the selection tools in Photoshop to isolate parts of images for adjustment or editing. You will learn how to use layers, and how to apply gradients, styles and effects to layers. In addition to using selection tools, using masks and channels is an important Photoshop skill to create composite images or isolate parts of images. You will learn to create and edit masks and channels in this class

Finally, you will learn how to use type in Photoshop, including how to create clipping masks from type, create type on a path, create paragraph text, warp point type, and create vertical text

Who Should Attend
This course is appropriate for beginners and for anyone who is self taught on the basics of Photoshop. Quite often even experienced users find they benefit from a Core Skills: Level 1 class to fill in the gaps in their knowledge. Prerequisites
Basic computer and file management skills are required for Core Skills level Adobe courses. Students should know how to - locate, copy and open files; create folders; arrange, re-size, minimize and maximize application windows; start and exit programs; manage use of multiple programs simultaneously; and switch between open programs.

Course Objectives

  • Use basic selection tools and edge refinement to isolate and edit parts of an image.
  • Manipulate layers through ordering, positioning, scaling, rotation, and adjustments.
  • Create composite images that demonstrate advanced selection and layering techniques
  • Prepare images for Web and print output with appropriate sizing and resolution.
  • Apply painted masks, selection-based masks, gradient masks, and blend modes to create sophisticated image effects.
  • Create adjustment layers for editable, non-destructive changes to image coloration and exposure.
  • Set and modify typography using the full range of type tools, the Character panel, and the Paragraph panel.
  • Apply special effects to typography using masks, paths, and layer styles.
  • Use preset brushes and custom brushes to colorize images, enhance images, and build illustrations. Stylize images by combining filters with blending and masks.
  • Evaluate and correct image imperfections using the Info panel, adjustment layers, and retouching tools.
  • Combine Photoshop and Adobe Bridge to build an overall professional workflow with effective digital asset management.

METHODOLOGY

The instructor-led trainings are delivered using a blended learning approach and comprise presentations, guided sessions of practical exercise, web-based tutorials, and group work. Our facilitators are seasoned industry experts with years of experience, working as professionals and trainers in these fields. All facilitation and course materials will be offered in English. The participants should be reasonably proficient in English.

ACCREDITATION

Upon successful completion of this training, participants will be issued an Indepth Research Institute (IRES) certificate certified by the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA).

TRAINING VENUE

The training will be held at IRES Training Centre. The course fee covers the course tuition, training materials, two break refreshments, and lunch. All participants will additionally cater to their travel expenses, visa application, insurance, and other personal expenses.
