This course is designed to meet the needs of today’s agricultural borrower and lender, it focuses on the analysis and interpretation of historical and projected farm and ranch financial statements–the critical components of the credit analysis process that continue to frustrate even the most experienced borrowers and lenders. Although lectures are an important part of the course, participants spend the majority of their time analyzing case studies and participating in small group.

Agricultural Credit Analysis course is designed for loan officers, loan administrators, and credit personnel who are responsible for or support agricultural lending to farmers, farmers, farmer groups and all stakeholders working in the agriculture industry. Participants should have a working knowledge of the fundamentals of commercial lending and credit.

By the end of the course, learners will have:

  • Make sound credit decisions with confidence based on commonly available information.
  • Understand the impact of key recommendations by the Farm and Financial Standards Task Force.
  • Identify and articulate the key strengths and weaknesses of a credit request and structure the loan accordingly.
  • Build a stronger and more profitable loan portfolio.
  • Understand the importance of farm records in accessing credit.
  • Appreciate smallholder agriculture commercialization.

    Overview of the micro finance credit process and its components

    Gathering information and building the farmer relationship.

    • Understanding the farmers credit needs.
    • Building a borrowing profile.
    • Responsibilities and obligations for the farmer.

    Analyzing the historical financial and operation aspects of the farmer.

    Module 4

    Financial planning and analysis

    • Farm financial planning factors.
    • Uses of financial planning on the farm.
    • The farm financial planning process.

The instructor led trainings are delivered using a blended learning approach and comprises of presentations, guided sessions of practical exercise, web based tutorials and group work. Our facilitators are seasoned industry experts with years of experience, working as professional and trainers in these fields.

All facilitation and course materials will be offered in English. The participants should be reasonably proficient in English.


Upon successful completion of this training, participants will be issued with an Indepth Research Institute(IRES) certificate certified by the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA).


The training will be held at IRES Training Centre. The course fee covers the course tuition, training materials, two break refreshments and lunch.

All participants will additionally cater for their, travel expenses, visa application, insurance, and other personal expenses.
