Agri-business and Entrepreneurship Development for Enhanced Food Security Course

INTRODUCTION

Private sector development is relatively weak despite Governments’ effort to encourage it. The vast majority of populations are active in subsistence agricultural production. Weak private sector development combined with a saturated employment market in other segments (such as government) results in decreasing opportunities. The investment in developing a more entrepreneurial attitude with a focus on agri-business development is lacking. With a more entrepreneurial attitude and skills, unemployment rates could drop. This course is meant for stakeholders who want to improve the entrepreneurial skills of their people who are willing to set up their own business and at the same time help develop the rural environment and economy in a sustainable way through agribusiness.
